Calamity Seed

Science-Fantasy JRPG · Fabula Ultima

Alien world-engines are waking up and overwriting reality one violent Bloom at a time, and you are one of the rare few who can wield that apocalyptic power instead of being unmade by it. Calamity Seed is a science-fantasy JRPG run on Fabula Ultima: neo-feudal knights in powered armor, a world being reborn into something beautiful and lethal, and a band of Resonators fighting to carve out safe ground for humanity. You are the party that decides how much of the old world survives the remaking.

The World

The old world is a memory haunting the skeletons of rusted cities. Eons ago, colossal alien bio-formers called Progenitors seeded this planet with life and left behind their world-shaping engines, the God-Seeds. A glittering civilization, the Architects of Meridian, built their entire society on top of those sleeping engines without ever knowing it, and when their hubris cracked the world's foundations, everything they made crumbled into rust and ruin in a matter of days.

Decades ago the first God-Seed woke up. Each awakening triggers a Bloom: a reality-overwriting eruption of alien light that reshapes the land, birthing monstrous Aberrations and surreal, ever-expanding Bloom Zones that defy the laws of nature. The world is now a patchwork of fortified settlements, scarred Meridian ruins, and impossible biomes, all orbiting the Grand Bastion, one of the last great strongholds of organized humanity. It is high-tech melancholy and desperate survival: storybook JRPG color stretched over an alien apocalypse that is still in progress.

What You Play

You play a Resonator, one of the rare few born with the gift to harmonize with the raw energy that is unmaking the world instead of being mutated by it. Through that Resonance you channel the Bloom's chaos into fire, lightning, healing waves, and stranger things, turning the apocalypse into a weapon against itself. Most Resonators belong to the Order of the Aegis, a knightly-scientific brotherhood that fights to contain the Calamity and protect what little remains of the old world.

Fabula Ultima hands you the archetype kit, the warrior, the mage, the rogue, the wandering specialist, and lets you bend it into someone specific: a Vanguard forging incandescent weapons, a Void Knight drawing on gravity and entropy, an Aether-Weaver who can mend shattered bone or unmake it. The defining choice is not your class. It is the bond that drags you forward, the home you are trying to protect, and the line you will not cross even when the world asks you to. Party drama is the engine here. The fights are loud setpieces, but the quiet scenes between them are where the campaign lives.

How It Plays

Calamity Seed runs on Fabula Ultima, a tabletop system built to feel like a JRPG: bonds that power your rolls, fights staged like setpieces, and rules that put character and theme over simulation. As a seasonal live-service Play-by-Post world it never pauses. The story advances in chapters, the world shifts between seasons as new God-Seeds stir, and threats grow whether or not your party is in the room. A custom Discord bot stack handles the bookkeeping, tracking sheets, bonds, inventory, and dice, so the table stays focused on the story. Roll up a Resonator, find your party, and start carving out safe ground one post at a time.
