Akuma no Shokuzai
Urban-Horror JRPG · Fabula Ultima
In Ravenport the rain never stops and the Acheron Gates are open. Demons spill into a gothic city where Pandora Corporation mans the checkpoints and most people can't even see what's hunting them, but you can. You're a Vessel: awakened to the truth, forging pacts with the things in the dark to stand against the things that are worse.
The World
Ravenport was once the crown jewel of academia and culture, gothic spires and cobblestone streets where ancient gargoyles watch over coffee shops and neon arcades. Then the first Acheron Gate tore open beneath Edgar University, and more followed across the city. Now the rain rarely stops, the air smells of ozone near the checkpoints, and the barrier between our world and realms of nightmare grows thinner by the night.
Most citizens never see it. The Gates emit a psycho-active frequency, the Haze, that smooths a rampaging demon into a "construction accident" or a riot. Pandora Corporation runs the sterile white checkpoints, the curfews, and the sanitized "dimensional incident" reports, holding the sleeping city together while something vast turns its attention toward Ravenport.
What You Play
You are a Vessel, one of the rare few who has pierced the Haze and now sees the truth. That sight is a gift and a curse: you can fight the demons most people can't even perceive, but it isolates you from everyone who still sleeps. To stand a chance you forge pacts, binding the power of demons to your will. Power here is never free, and the price is always personal, a memory, an emotion, a piece of who you used to be. Inspired by Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Devil Summoner, this is a story of found family, sacrifice, and the stubborn refusal to stop being human.
How It Plays
Akuma no Shokuzai runs on Fabula Ultima, the tabletop JRPG engine built for exactly this kind of drama, bonds, personal stakes, and high-flair combat. As a seasonal, live-service Play-by-Post world it never truly pauses: arcs roll forward on a schedule, the Acheron Crisis deepens, and Ravenport keeps its own clock whether you log in or not. A custom Discord bot stack tracks your pacts, inventory, and the slow accounting of what your power has cost you. Show up, write, and atone.
